The Cinephile Film Club of the Entertainment Society of Goa will host a special programme on Saturday, September 20, to mark the birth centenary of renowned Goan cinematographer K Vaikunth. The event, to be held at Maquinez Palace Theatre, Old GMC building, at 5.30 pm, will feature a conversation on Vaikunth’s legacy followed by a screening of Gulzar’s classic Aandhi (1975).

Film historian Pavan Jha, a close associate of Gulzar, will lead the discussion, offering insights into Vaikunth’s career and his collaborations with leading filmmakers. Born as Vaikunth Dattaram Kunkolienkar in Margao, he worked on iconic films such as Andaz (1971), Seeta Aur Geeta (1972) — which won him a Filmfare Award — and several of Gulzar’s celebrated works including Parichay, Mausam and Aandhi. The programme is part of ESG’s efforts to highlight the contributions of Goan talent to Indian cinema.
