Two country-made motorised fishing canoes capsized at Colva and adjoining Benaulim coast on Tuesday during their fishing expedition.
The crew members of the two boats were rescued by Drishti life guards and local fishermen.
The first incident is believed to have taken place at Colva on Tuesday morning when the fishing canoe with 15-member crew onboard the vessel capsized. All the crew members were immediately rescued.
Betul coastal police station in-charge, PI Navlesh Desai informed the second canoe capsized at Benaulim near a resort. Around 13 crew members on board the vessel were all rescued by the life guards, he said.
With these two mishaps, the total number of country-made motorised canoes that have capsized along Salcete coastal belt to three. However, all the crew members onboard these fishing vessels were rescued by the life guards and the ill-fated boats towed on shore.
PI Desai informed that the coastal police has deployed personnel along Salcete coast right from Colva to Benaulim as a precautionary measure.
