Vajra Youth Club holds anti-drug awareness drive

PANAJI: Vajra Youth Club, Taleigao, organised an anti-drug awareness programme at Goa College of Art, Altinho, on Thursday to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking and sensitise students to the dangers of substance abuse. Deputy Director of Social Welfare Mahesh Korgaokar attended as chief guest and spoke about government initiatives to combat drug abuse, including the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, MANAS helpline, NCORD, Mission SPANDAN and Addiction Treatment Facilities.

Prof Harsha Mandurkar, Principal of Goa College of Art, was the guest of honour, while PSI Dindayal Redkar from the Anti Narcotics Cell served as the resource person. He highlighted the harmful effects of narcotics, preventive measures and the importance of youth participation in creating a drug-free society. The programme opened with a welcome address by Vajra Youth Club president Sagar Kunkolkar. Around 100 students attended and interacted with the resource person. Secretary Prashant Kundaikar proposed the vote of thanks.
