The Goan Seamen Association of India (GSAI) will mark International Seafarers Day on June 25 at Ravindra Bhavan (Conference Hall) Margao from 10:30 am onwards with a special celebration to honour the dedication and service of Goan seafarers.
The event will recognise the invaluable contributions of seamen to the state and the nation’s maritime heritage. As part of the celebrations, active seafarers who have completed 25 years of dedicated service at sea will be felicitated for their commitment, resilience, and professionalism. Their long-standing contribution to the maritime sector will be publicly acknowledged in the presence of peers, dignitaries, and maritime officials.
In a special tribute, former Chief Minister of Goa Churchill Alemao will also be honoured at the event for his background as a seaman prior to his political career. This recognition aims to celebrate his journey from the seas to the corridors of governance, serving as an inspiration for the Goan maritime community. The GSAI continues to uphold the spirit of solidarity among Goan seafarers and advocates for their welfare and recognition at both national and international levels. This event reaffirms its mission to preserve the proud maritime legacy of Goa.
