PANAJI: The St Lawrence Chapel grounds came alive on Sunday evening with vibrant São João festivities organised by the St Lawrence Youth. The annual celebration, marking the birth of St John the Baptist, saw parishioners unite in prayer, music, and traditional performances.
The event began with a prayer service led by Fr Myron Jeson Barreto, who called for unity and joy. A colourful ward-wise parade followed, with each group presenting tableaux and a symbolic St John the Baptist delivering messages of hope and renewal.
Highlights included a kopel-making contest, traditional attire showcase, sweet dish competition, and folk performances. The celebration ended on a lively note with DJ Reev’s music, capturing the festive spirit of São João.
