Anjuna Police arrested a native of West Bengal on charges of theft and recovered six mobile phones worth Rs 80,000.
The accused is identified as Riyazul Akbar Mulla (24).
A security guard had lodged a complaint on Tuesday that unknown persons committed theft of a bag which contained a mobile phone at Vagator.
While investigating, police zeroed in on the accused and apprehended him near the Vagator beach.
During a search, six mobiles including the one belonging to the security guard was also found in possession of the accused.
The investigation team was led by Anjuna PI Prashal Dessai, PSI Sahil Warang, HCs Vasu Mahale, Anil Pilgaonkar and PCs Rama Parab, Ramdas Harmalkar, Snehal Malik, and Rohit Nawar under overall supervision of SDPO Mapusa Jivba Dalvi and SP North Shobhit Saxena (IPS).
