Land acquisition for Tuem electronics hub road sped up

PANAJI: The Goa government has stepped up efforts to speed up land acquisition for the long-delayed approach road to the proposed Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) at Tuem. Senior officials held a high-level review meeting to push forward the project, which is expected to become a major industrial and employment hub for the State. The meeting, chaired by North Goa Collector Ankit Yadav, focused on speeding up acquisition procedures and clearing administrative hurdles for the key road connecting to the EMC site in Pernem.

In a press statement, the Department of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications (DITE&C) said the approach road was essential for making the ambitious electronics and technology cluster operational. “The government hopes it will attract investments in sectors such as semiconductors, drones, clean technology and electric vehicle components,” the statement said. Spread across nearly six lakh square metres at Tuem, the project is expected to create high-value job opportunities for Goan youth and attract investment in emerging technology sectors.

During the meeting, departments were instructed to improve coordination and streamline planning and acquisition procedures to avoid delays in the execution of the infrastructure project.
