There is finally a ray of hope for specialised healthcare to women and children of Canacona as a gynaecologist and paediatrician will make weekly visits to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Canacona from February.
According to CHC sources, a paediatrician and gynaecologist will be available at Canacona CHC at Chaudi every Thursday from February 4. There had been demands from residents to ensure full-fledged services at the Canacona CHC, which the lone government hospital in the taluka.
At present, the Canacona CHC has only one dentist on a daily basis, but lacks the services of a physician, who stopped visiting the hospital. There are, however, eight medical officers attached to CHC Canacona attending to the OPD and in-house patients, while some also attend to RMDs at Molorem (Khola), Agonda and Maxem (Loliem).
