While the BJP-led government keeps announcing fancy projects, basic facilities like the construction of a public toilet in Agapur, Ponda is pending even 15 years after the foundation stone was laid for the same. Revolutionary Goans hit out at the local MLA, 'Ramkrishna' Sudin Dhavalikar for his incompetency displayed over the years. The foundation stone for this sulabh sauchalaya complex near the primary health centre was laid on June 27, 2006 and till date no work has begun.
The Revolutionary Goans Chief, Manoj Parab condemned the government for promising the people a Swachh or clean India. “There are talks that toilets will be constructed everywhere and an open defecation free (ODF) status will be achieved as part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014. But, is Goa really open defecation free?” questions Manoj.
A member of Revolutionary Goans, Meena Fernandes also questions Dhavalikar about the construction of the toilet. Revolutionary Goans leader, Vishvesh Naik goes on to mention that Dhavalikar praises himself for the development work carried out during his term. “There are many more foundation stones being laid and work not completed which we will be highlighting shortly. He is fooling people with his talks and we will see more of this over the next six months,” added Vishvesh.
