The government on Saturday handed over financial assistance of Rs 2 crore to families affected by the devastating floods in Sattari taluka on July 23.
The letters for compensation were handed over by the health minister to the affected families for losses to their homes and properties at a function in Valpoi in the presence of Sattari Mamlatdar Dasharath Gawas and other officials and elected representatives.
In his address, the health minister said there had been a huge natural calamity as heavy rains and floods had caused severe damage in Sattari.
The State government had assured financial assistance to the affected families and a proposal in this regard was prepared by the Sattari mamlatdar’s office and sent to the government.
