MAPUSA: St Thomas Higher Secondary School, Aldona, in collaboration with its Parent Teachers’ Association, organised the All Goa Inter-Higher Secondary School News Presentation Competition on September 13. The event, held at the school hall, was based on the theme “Voices of Hope: News that Inspires, Uplifts, and Ignites Optimism.”
Fifteen higher secondary schools from across Goa participated, with students presenting interactive PowerPoint-based news stories. Chief Guest Pramod Acharya, Editorial Director of Prudent Media Network, praised the high standard of presentations, noting that some students performed on par with professional news anchors. He urged students to focus on positive stories, saying readers ultimately decide which news gains importance.
The competition was judged by Alisha Caraline Fernandes, Producer at Rashtra TV, and Nitiksha Mahadev Gaonkar, Reporter at Goa 365. Principal Angelica Fernandes announced the winners: first place went to Juyee Manesh Gawas of Vasantrao Dempo HSS, Cujira; second place to Carol Fernandes of St Thomas HSS, Aldona; and third place to Yash Jagdish Durbhatkar of St Andrew’s HSS, Vasco. Consolation prizes were awarded to Chetana Naik of Dr K B Hedgewar HSS, Cujira, and Meagan Grace Dias of GVM’s SNJA HSS, Ponda. All participants received certificates, while winners took home trophies, certificates, and cash prizes.
