St Lawrence Catechetical Association has published ‘Doton Bhavarthachi Akarnni, a companion to catechists and parents which is a set of eight volumes.
These eight volumes were released by Fr Mario Leitão, Parish Priest of St Lawrence Church, Agassaim, on Christmas day in the presence of Fr Dominic Rodrigues (Assistant Parish Priest), Fr Aldrin D’Costa (Assistant to the Parish Priest of Our Lady of Rosary Church, Fatorda), Br Sanvy Cardozo, Newon Gonsalves (President of St Lawrence Catechetical Association) and the catechists.
Speaking on the occasion, Fr Mario Leitão congratulated Fr Aldrin D’Costa and the catechists of the parish in bringing out these books on faith formation as per the teachings of the Church.
Fr Aldrin while narrating the journey of preparation of these books, thanked the Parish Priests, catechists and those who helped in publishing them.
These books are prepared by the catechists of St Lawrence Church, Agassaim, under the guidance of their former Assistant to the Parish Priest Fr Aldrin D’Costa and edited by Fr Aldrin D’Costa.
The first volume serves as a companion to those catechists and parents who are training small children introduced for the first time catechism which consists of games, pictures, crossword, etc.
The second volume explains the basic catechism like Sign of the Cross, Our Father, etc. Volume three consists of Sacraments, while the importance of the Holy Eucharist and summary of each books of the Bible is presented in the fourth volume.
The fifth volume explains the profession of Faith (12 articles of Faith), while the sixth volume provides an understanding of our moral life and highlights the beatitudes. The ten commandments are explained in detail in the seventh volume and the eight volume presents the Third Person of the Holy Trinity i.e. The Holy Spirit.
