The managing committee of Noi Insenho and Thor Khazan Tenants Association felicitated social worker Rajesh Faldessai for repairing the breaches in the bundh at Malar-Divar at his own cost and giving relief to the locals from flooding of roads. The felicitation programme was organized at St Mathias panchayat hall on Sunday.It may be recalled that The Goan had highlighted how Faldessai took it upon himself to repair the breaches in the bundhs to stop entry of saline water inland and flooding roads.
Speaking at the function, Faldessai said that he saw how people were suffering due to flooded roads and had to wade through knee deep water to reach their homes. “I also saw how some elements were only giving assurances of repairing the breaches while in reality doing nothing. But I was not one among them and after witnessing the suffering of the people, I immediately asked the contractor to begin the work of repairing the breaches at whatever cost,” he added. Further, Faldessai urged the people to stand by him so that he could undertake more development in Divar. Former sarpanch Sadanand Phadte, Bhushan Bhomkar, contractor Gurudas Bhomkar, tenants association committee members and others were present.
