MARGAO : Maina SC Curtorim got the better of CAC Cansaulim with a 4-2 victory in the 33rd Super Soccer tournament, organised by United Boys of Dando Colva, at the St John the Baptist ground in Benaulim.
Joywin Carneiro was the early star for Maina SC Curtorim, netting two goals in quick succession at the 17th and 23rd minutes. However, Rio Rodrigues pulled one back for CAC Cansaulim with a well-placed shot, bringing the halftime score to 2-1 in favor of Maina SC Curtorim.
The second half saw CAC Cansaulim ramp up the pressure, with teenager Rishley Soares and his teammates Aron and Rio keeping Maina SC Curtorim on the defensive. Milagres Fernandes scored in the 36th minute to increase the score for Maina Curtorim , but the two goal lead was short-lived. Rio Rodrigues struck again for Maina Curtorim in the 55th minute and Milagres Fernandes sealed the victory with his second goal in the 60th minute for Maina SC Curtorim. Rio Rodrigues was named Man of the Match and received a trophy from Amilcar Pereira, the former goalkeeper of Benaulim.
In a match played on Tuesday, St Anthony Assolda defeated Varca SC 4-1.
