MARGAO: Sporting Club Davorlim edged out Calangute Association 3-2 to enter into the quarterfinals of 51st Custodio Memorial football tournament, organised by Raia Sporting Club, Panchayat ground, Raia, on Wednesday.
In the fourth minute, Davorlim's Milton Colaco powerful 30-yard shot curved and crashed into the Calangute net giving no chance to goalkeeper. Calangute's Saish Palyekar's header from the box missed the frame and Sporting Sporting Club Davorlim further inflated lead through Royson Colaco in the 31st minute with tapping the ball from the close range
Changing over, Calagute Association took control of the game and tried to break the Davorlim defence and they succeeded through Pedro Gonsalves' powerful shot from the edge of the box in the 49th minute while Davorlim capitalised on a defensive error by Calangute in 51st minute and scored third goal through Adrash Raj. Pedro Gonsalves completed his brace in the 61st minute.
Royson Colaco was presented man of the match by Charles Dias coach of Sesa FA.
