GOACAN volunteers on Wednesday visited the Salcete Taluka office of the Department of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs and the South Goa office of the Directorate of Food and Drug Administration to familiarise themselves with the functioning of these offices.
GOACAN Coordinator Roland Martins has appealed to consumers of Salcete Taluka to submit their consumer-related grievances to these respective offices located at the Old Collectorate Building at Margao.
Later, the GOACAN volunteers visited a few shops and supermarkets to get a first-hand understanding of some of the common violations of the Packaged Commodities Rules and Weights & Measures Act.
Meanwhile, GOACAN will carry out its consumer connect activity through the village-based Consumer Forums and campus-based Consumer Welfare Clubs as part of its month-long Consumer Rights and Responsibilities Awareness Drive, informed Martins.
