To commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of St Xavier’s College, Mapusa, a two day National Seminar was jointly organised by the Department of Biotechnology, Botany, Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronics, Mathematics, Microbiology and Physics under the DBT Star College Scheme on March 3 and 4. The theme of the seminar was “Emerging Trends in Science and Technology: A Multidisciplinary Approach”. Chief guest of the Inaugural was the Vice Chancellor of Goa University Professor Harilal Menon. The first technical session of day one was delivered by Vinod Dharashive, Vice-President-Engineering, Kore.ai, Telangana on “Voice bots and Conversational AI”. The second technical session was by Dr Amit Vernekar, Senior Scientist, CSIR-Central Leather Research Institute, Tamil Nadu on “Functional Roles of Elements for Transport and Catalysis in Biological Systems”. Third technical session on “Blockchain and Its Applications” was delivered by Vinod Dharashive. The first two technical sessions of day two were delivered by Prof. Utpal Tatu, Chairman, Department of Biochemistry, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru on “Neglected Infectious Diseases” and “Proteomics and applications of Mass Spectroscopy”.
