Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) President and Archbishop of Goa and Daman Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrão on Tuesday launched the website (www.shantisadan.in) of Shanti Sadan, CCBI Secretariat Extension during a simple function at Shanti Sadan, CCBI Secretariat Extension, Benaulim.
Rev. Dr Stephen Alathara (Deputy Secretary General, CCBI), Rev. Fr Duming Gonsalves (Executive Secretary, CCBI Commission for Catechetics and Administrator of Shanti Sadan) and Ryan D’Mello were present.
The CCBI inaugurated the Shanti Sadan on January 6, 2020, as the Secretariat Extension. Three commissions of the CCBI, namely Catechetics, Family and Liturgy, operate from Shanti Sadan. Shanti Sadan also organises unique courses like diocesan administration course for Vicar Generals and Chancellors and course for the diocesan financial administrators.
The Shanti Sadan, a three storeyed-building has 25 self-contained rooms and can accommodate 40 persons. It has a chapel, conference and dining halls.
The CCBI has five Secretariat buildings in India, Suvarta Kendra (Pachmarhi, Madhya Pradesh) is the Secretariat of the CCBI Commission for Proclamation. Bethania (Faridabad, New Delhi) is the CCBI Youth Commission Secretariat, the PMO Office (Ulsoor, Bangalore) is the Secretariat of the Pontifical Mission Organisation (PMO). The Headquarters of the CCBI is the CCBI Centre, Bangalore, from where the Deputy Secretary General and three other Commission Secretaries operate.
There are 16 Commissions, 6 Departments and 4 Apostolates under the CCBI, where 26 personnel are working as Executive Secretaries or Directors.
The Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) is canonically the National Episcopal Conference for the Latin Church. It is the largest Bishops Conference in Asia and the fourth largest in the world. It consists of 132 dioceses with 183 bishops.
