PORVORIM
Six of the 11 members in Socorro panchayat on Thursday moved a no-confidence motion again against Sarpanch Sandeep Vazarkar.
In their notice submitted to the Mapusa block development office, the six panchas -- Sandeep Manjrekar, Anil Pednekar, Sanjay Pednekar, Rovlu Parsekar, Reshma Morajkar and Maya Keni -- accused Vazarkar of encouraging illegal constructions, failing to take panch members into confidence on developmental issues and failed to discharge duties as per the Panchayat Raj Act.
Incidentally, Manjrekar, Vazarkar and some other panchas of Socorro had recently joined the BJP.
When contacted, Manjrekar insisted that he has not left the BJP but was unhappy with Vazarkar’s style of administration.
“Vazarkar was behaving in an autocratic way and hence, I decided to move a no-confidence motion against him. I will continue to work for BJP,” said Manjrekar.
Vazarkar, who was instrumental in toppling the ruling group supported by MLA Rohan Khaunte in Salvador do Mundo panchayat, was one of the aspirants for the BJP ticket in Porvorim Constituency.
