National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers from two schools in Pernem took part in a cleanliness drive at the Tiracol Fort, as part of the National Youth Week organised by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs.
Twenty-three students from Shri Kamleshwar Higher Secondary School, Korgao, and 13 students from Panchkroshi Higher Secondary, Arambol participated in the drive, which included cleaning the Tiracol Fort, the Hirve Guruji memorial and the Sheshnath Wadekar memorial.
Vithoba Bagli, a teacher at the Shri Kamleshwar Higher Secondary School, Korgao, spoke on Goa’s freedom struggle and the two freedom fighters, Tulshiram Hirve from Panvel and Sheshnath Wadekar from Alibag.
