Rotary Club of Panaji gives 40 scholarships

The Rotary Club of Panaji (RCP) distributed over 40 educational scholarships to deserving students studying in the State, covering over Rs 4 lakh.

This is the 25th year that the Rotary Club is extending such need-based grants and over the years, the Rotary Club of Panaji through its members and well-wishers have contributed over Rs 1.56 crore to deserving students.
The chief guest of the function was Pradip Talaulicar during whose year in 1997-98, this scheme was conceptualised.
“Rotary Club of Panaji believes that investment made into education will always benefit society,” said RCP President Glenn Kalavampara.
Others present on the occasion included Carlito Martins (events chair), Manisha Sardesai (Asst Governor, District 3170) and Sarfraz Sheikh (RCP Secretary).

3 detained in Vagator for kidnapping

PANAJIA special team of Goa police detained three suspected kidnappers after a tip-off from its counterparts in Daman that the trio including a woman was hiding in Vagator. A Daman native, who was abducted by his kin and relatives, managed to free himself and report the matter to the police who in turn approached Goa police seeking assistance. Pieces said that Prakash Mali, aged 24 years was abducted from Daman prompting a police complaint with the local police station.…
