SIRSAIM: Valpoi Football Club cruised to a comfortable 3-1 victory over Laxmi Prasad SC in the Sesa Vedanta Cup, an U-15 girls football tournament, on Friday at Sirsaim ground.
The match started with an even exchange, but Valpoi took the lead in the 24th minute through Ridhima Dalvi. They maintained their advantage throughout the first half, entering the break with a 1-0 lead.
Laxmi Prasad struggled to keep up with Valpoi's pressing game in the second half. Ridhima Dalvi doubled her team's lead in the 43rd minute, and Diya Polekar added another in the 54th minute to put the game beyond doubt.
Laxmi Prasad managed a consolation goal through Divya Naik in the 60th minute, but it was too little too late. Valpoi secured their place in the next round with a convincing performance. Valpoi’s Ridhima Dalvi received the player of the match award from Sesa official Severino.
Valpoi FC will clash with Sinquerim FC on February 20 in the semifinals. Sinquerim FC had earlier defeated FC Mardol 10-0.
