The Goa Forward claimed that the Electricity department white paper released by Power Minister Nilesh Cabral is completely contradictory to the petition submitted by the department to the JERC.
The Goa Forward Party vice-president Durgadas Kamat on Saturday said that the claim in the white paper that State domestic power consumption is more than
the industrial and commercial consumption is contradictory to statistics in a petition to JERC.
“Government in 2018 has given domestic consumption 31 per cent. Commercial 15 per cent, industrial consumption 51 per cent, agriculture 1 per cent, temporary consumption 5 per cent, and defense consumption 1 per cent. This shows that commercial and industrial consumption together is much more than domestic consumption. However, white paper released shows a completely opposite picture,” said Kamat.
“Is this justification (in the whitepaper) to bring more coal handling in Goa?” asked Kamat.
