PANAJI
The Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) and ASSOCHAM Goa in association with Ministry of Women and Child Development and BSE Investor’s Protection Fund organised an International Women’s Day programme in Panaji recently. “Goa is one of the luckiest States in India with an assertive presence of many positive verticals. There is equal property rights for women here, which is one of the most important factors in life as virtues originate from wealth. In Goa, 11 to 15% of the women are working and they are all below 60. We have to see how we can bring all women in the system. The women in Goa have good property, good education but why do they not work?” wondered Arun Mishra, IAS, Secretary, Women and Child, Health while addressing the audience. Emphasising that there is need to provide the women in the State the environment that gives them opportunity to work, earn and contribute to the State GDP, Mishra suggested the GCCI’s Women’s Wing to take up case study of some remote taluka like Canacona and empower the tribal areas.
