IMA Bicholim, in association with Lions Club Bicholim and CHC Bicholim together, organized a meeting and an advocacy workshop to prevent spread of Dengue in the area. The workshop was inaugurated by Rajesh Patnekar, Speaker, Goa Assembly, in the presence of Bicholim Municipality chairperson Kundan Falari, chief officer Kabir Shirgaonkar, IMA Bicholim president and CHC Bicholim health officer Dr Medha Salkar and Lion Dr Shekhar Salkar. BMC counselor Riyaz Baig, Vijaykumar Natekar, Deepa Shirgaonkar, Adv Aparna Fogueri, Aniket Chanekar, Nilesh Tople, Sangam Pal, Kamlesh Teli, Sagar Shetye, Vallabh Salkar and others also attended the meeting. Dr Medha Salkar welcomed and highlighted the need of behaving responsibly to prevent dengue in the area. She congratulated all for making Bicholim a malaria-free town. As of now the CHC Bicholim has detected 11 cases of dengue but they were from other areas, stated Dr Medha. A presentation on precautions to be taken was given by extension educator Chandroji and umbrellas were distributed to the field staff of CHC Bicholim as a recognition of their hard work. There was a Q & A session too. Lion Dr Shekhar Salkar proposed the vote of thanks.
