PANAJI:
The Young Christian Students/Young Students Movement (YCS/YSM), under the guidance of the Diocesan Youth Centre (DYC), held its inaugural meet at St Joseph Vaz Spiritual Renewal Centre, Old Goa, on June 18. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 420 students and animators from 21 schools across Goa, united under the inspiring theme, ‘Abide in Me to Bear Abundant Fruit of Good Works’.
Sr Loretta Pereira, Lady Animator of the DYC, gave an interactive session highlighting the difference between vocation and profession helping participant to have deeper purpose in personal and professional growth.
Participants were enriched by the input session by Fr Micheal Pereira SVD, Incharge of the SVD Social Work Centre at Raia. Fr Blaise Lobo, Director of DYC, delivered a session on the mission, structure, and core values of the YCS/YSM movement.
He also demonstrated how to conduct a YCS/YSM cell meeting, allowing students to experience firsthand the “See–Judge–Act” methodology which lies at the heart of the movement.
The schools that took part in the inaugural meet included: St Ann’s HS (Tivim), St Theresa HS (St Estevam), Holy Cross HS (Siolim), Infant Jesus HS (Colva), Bethany Convent HS (Areal), Little Flower of Jesus HS (Calangute), Our Lady of Candelaria HS (Vasco), St Xavier’s HS (Moira), Presentation Convent HS (Ambaji-Margao), St Bartholomew’s HS (Chorao), St Clara’s HS (Assonora), St Michael’s Convent HS (Vagator-Anjuna), Our Lady of Desterro HS (Vasco), St Lawrence HS (Agassaim), Our Lady of the Rosary HS (Dona Paula), St John of the Cross HS (Sanquelim), Holy Cross HS (Bastora), Holy Spirit Institute (Margao), St Sebastian’s HS (Loliem-Canacona), Perpetual Convent HS (Navelim), and Lourdes Convent (HS Saligao).
