MARGAO: ABC Curtorim prevailed over Danger Boys Gudi-Paroda 6-5 via the tie-breaker to enter the quarter-finals of 17th Rebello Pandal All Goa open football tournament, organised by Rebello Pandal Maina, at St Rita Church ground, Maina Curtorim, on Thursday.
Both the teams were eager to get the goals in first session and Frazer of Danger Boys Gudi-Paroda dribbled past Curtorim defence but shot in the hands of the goalkeeper in the 28th minute while taking advantage of the defence. Omkar of Gudi-Paroda gave a through pass to Frazer who made no mistake to score the first goal in the 30th minute but the joy was short-lived as Nickson of Curtorim equalised with a power packed left footer shot before half time.
In the second session, Jayson of Gudi-Paroda scored the second goal by tapping ball in the far corner in the 46th minutes but Joywin of Curtorim equalised in the very next minute from a glancing header assisted by Cajitan in 47th minute. Both teams tried hard to find the winning goal but couldn't break the deadlock and made way for a penalty shoot-out to decide the winner.
In resultant tie-breaker, ABC Curtorim proved to be better shooters to move in next round.
