Panaji: The Guirim-based Goa Jazz Academy (GJA) has launched GJA Records, a music label dedicated to helping its students release their original compositions. The initiative completes the academy’s learning model, enabling students to learn instruments, perform, write, record, produce and release music under the guidance of mentors. The label’s first release is ‘Circles’, a jazz single written and performed by academy student Erika Shauna Pereira. According to GJA director Divya Gupta, Erika developed her songwriting and singing skills over two years before recording and producing the track. GJA director Karan Khosla said the academy was proud of her achievement. ‘Circles’, composed in the jazz form known as ‘Rhythm Changes’, is available on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music and other major platforms.
