MARGAO: Betalbatim Sporting moved into quarter-final after defeating Sao Jose de Areal by 5-4 via the tie-breaker of 1st Antonio Rebelo memorial, organised by Curtorim Gymkhana, at DSYA ground, Curtorim, on Thursday.
Betalbatim had theirs first chance to score when Jesus Ferrao's shot was well saved by the Areal keeper Joseph Monteiro. Moments later, Areal striker Aryan Carvalho missed an easy chance to score.
In second half, both the teams tried to score but strikers failed to score. Match ended 0-0.
In tie-breaker, Betalbatim Sporting scored through Ashley Fernandes, Gladson Braganza, Oliver D'souza, Asher Afonso and Joelan Fernandes while Myron Silva, Tyson Carvalho, Aryan Carvalho and Dreston Veigas scored through Sao Jose de Areal.
Manushan Fernandes of Betalbatim Sporting was given the man-of-the-match award by Shailesh Prabhu (executive member Curtorim Gymkhana).
