Efforts by the tourist police and lifesavers helped reunite a 5-year-old boy from Gujarat with his parents after he got lost at Calangute beach on Saturday evening.
The incident took place at about 5.15 pm when a small boy was found crying on the beach. Tourist police unit staff Nagesh Parsekar and AY Biradar met the distraught boy and sought details from him. When the boy was unable to provide details and the address of his parents, the tourist police then got in touch with a lifesaver, Leslie Rodrigues.
Lifesavers then made announcements on a megaphone at the beach and managed to trace the parents. After proper verification, the boy was handed over to his much-relieved parents, who thanked the tourist police and lifeguards for their assistance in locating their son.
