Winds of instability have started blowing at the Davorlim village Panchayat again. Six members of the panchayat have submitted a notice of no-confidence motion against Sarpanch Santosh Vithal Naik and Dy Sarpanch Carmino Joao Carvalho. In the notice, the six members claimed that the Sarpanch and Dy Sarpanch were not taking members into confidence on developmental works.
They further alleged that the duo have been exercising the powers not expressly in them as Sarpanch and Dy Sarpanch by or under the Act and thereby abusing their powers. The six signatories to the motion include Menino Joao Colaco, Michelle Jose Miranda, Myla Leoncio Rocha, Francisco Sabastiao Dias, Vidhi Vallabh Varak and Herculano Sebastiao Niasso. Sarpanch Naik had assumed office around six months ago after the then Sarpanch Herculean Niasso was voted out of office in a no-confidence motion.
