MARGAO: Canacona YSC triumphed over Parish Youth Nuvem 8-6 in a tense tiebreaker to secure a spot in the quarterfinals of the 41st Sao Jose de Areal Panchayat Inter-Village Football Tournament. The match, held at Padribhat football ground on Thursday, ended in a 3-3 draw after regulation time.
Parish Youth Nuvem's Francis Colaco scored two goals, with Cydar Colaco adding another. Canacona SCC responded with goals from Yamnursab Pinjar, Alreach Barreto, and Shane Afonso.
In the subsequent tiebreaker, Canacona found success through Chaitan Komarpant, Yamnursab Pinjar, Austin Diniz, Siddharth Komarpant, and Terence Lobo. For Parish Youth Nuvem, Nicolou Colaco, Meislen Barreto, and Cydar Colaco converted their penalties.
Yamnursab Pinjar was awarded the Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.
