PANAJIThe Department of Zoology of the Nuvem based Carmel College for Women celebrated Global Tiger day with the theme ‘Roar for the Tiger’ recently. The day was celebrated by students across the streams who participated in competitions on ‘Pause for the paws’ essay writing, ‘Aga aga, khai re wagha’ poetry and save the tiger thematic face painting; and concluded with a talk on ‘Conservation concerns of tiger: Goa centric discussion’ by Assistant Conservator of Forests Paresh Porob of State Forest Department who dwelt upon several aspects of the tiger ecology, management and long term conservation. The event saw encouraging participation of students, faculty and guests. Aditya Kakodkar, In-charge of WWF’s Marine Programme also graced the occasion. The guest speaker ACF Porob was felicitated by Principal Dr Sr Maria Lizanne AC.
