RGP leader Ajay Kholkar has filed a disqualification plea against Curca sarpanch on charges of persistent remiss in duties for not conducting gram sabhas. In the petition to the Director of Panchayats, Kholkar has stated that the Curca sarpanch first failed to convene the adjourned gram sabha of November 20. “Later, the sarpanch failed to convene ordinary gram sabhas of January and April 2023 as envisaged under section 5 (1) of the GPR Act,” Kholkar said while informing that the sarpanch failed to convene the said gram sabhas on the following months of February and May as per the orders issued by the Tiswadi BDO. Further, Kholkar informed that the sarpanch also failed to hold an extra-ordinary gram sabha as per the requisition by the villagers within 30 days from the date of receipt of the requisition as mandated under section 5(5) of the GPR Act. Finally, Kholkar has prayed that the DoP should exercise powers under section 50(4) of GPR Act and remove the sarpanch from office for persistent remiss in duties.
