Two Congress leaders and former mayors of Panaji have demanded action on those responsible for hill-cutting activity at Taleigao. "A hill has been cut for a road to benefit a bungalow. Many trees have also been felled in the process,” said former mayor Tony Rodrigues.Rodrigues alleged that the work is going on with the blessing of a local politician.Former Mayor, Uday Madkaikar, said the incident came to light while Congress workers were on a door-to-door campaign. “Last week, trees were felled at Caranzalem beach and now, this hill-cutting activity has taken place,” said Madkaikar.He has demanded immediate action by the Flying Squad, failing which he has said they will have no option but to go to court to stop the activity.
