Ex-Valpoi Cong block president, supporters leave party

VALPOI

In a setback to the Congress party in Valpoi, former block president Dasharath Mandrekar along with 60 members have resigned as primary member of the party.

Addressing a news conference, Mandrekar said he and the 60 members had been let down by the state congress leaders. "The Congress party was sailing in rough sea after the health minister had left Congress to join the BJP. But we struggled and managed to build the Valpoi block, raising several issues and acting as effective opposition to the BJP at Valpoi.“However, our work was overlooked and despite providing a list of names, GPCC President Girish Chodankar nominated someone else who has not done any work for the party," alleged Mandrekar. Accusing some state leaders for the decline of Congress party, Mandrekar said: "I was a Congress man and would have remained loyal to the party, but due to some senior leaders, workers like us have been forced to leave the party.” Clarifying that they had not decided on any other party at the moment, Mandrekar said they would decide on an alternate option.
