Five e-books on key medical topics edited by Dr R G Wiseman Pinto, Professor of Pathology, former HOD and former Dean, Goa University, were recently released. The titles cover Regulatory T Cells, Palliative Care, Global Warming, Germ Cell Tumours, and Reifenstein Syndrome, and are available on www.pathoindia.com. The e-book on Regulatory T Cells (Tregs) gains special significance following the announcement of the 2025 Nobel Prize in Medicine or Physiology to Dr Shimon Sakaguchi (Japan), Dr Mary Brunkow, and Dr Frederick Ramsdell (USA) for their pioneering work on these cells. First described by Dr Sakaguchi in 1995, Tregs are identified as CD4-positive, CD25-positive, and FoxP3-positive cells that maintain immune tolerance and prevent autoimmunity.
