MARGAO
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday said the government is taking steps to revive the Saturday revenue courts in the State.
“The Revenue Minster has set in motion the process to ensure Saturday Courts to dispose off the pending cases”, the Chief Minister said. He, however, did not set any time frame for the Saturday Courts to function, saying the Revenue Minister is presently on the job.
The revenue Courts were set up during the tenure of then Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte, but the Courts were shut following representations made by Association of lawyers. The Saturday courts also did not find favour with the government officials, including the Mamlatdars and Joint Mamlatdars, presiding over the revenue Courts.
