Guv, CM extend Diwali greetings

Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant have extended greetings and warm wishes to the people of Goa on the occasion of Diwali.

Governor in his message said that Diwali, the spectacle of lights, is celebrated throughout the length and breadth of the country with great gaiety and enthusiasm irrespective of caste, creed or religion. The festival signifies the removal of the forces of darkness by the light of goodness. This light endears us to good deeds and brings us closer to divinity. At the same time, this divine festival reinforces the spirit of unity and solidarity of our diverse country.

The Chief Minister, in his greeting message, said, ''Diwali Festival is celebrated to commemorate the return of Shri Ram, the Lord of virtue, to his kingdom after 14 years of exile. Diwali is a festival that illuminates people's minds and hearts with the spirit of oneness. May the festival of lights bring happiness, peace and prosperity to all."
