MAPUSA: In yet another raid at the Central jail in Colvale, on Friday, eight mobile phones and other gadgets were seized from the jail inmates.
Incidentally, Inspector General of Police Omvir Singh Bishnoi had conducted a similar raid in the jail premises five days ago and seized eight cell phones and other items.
On Friday, however, the raid was conducted by Superintendent of Prisons Gaurish Kuttikar under the supervision of IGP O S Bishnoi.
This time, the undertrail section of the jail was searched and eight mobile phones besides headphones, bluetooth, tobacco, gutkha and cigarettes were also found.
Incidentally, soon after the March 5 raid, Assistant Superintendent of Jail Bhanudas Pednekar was transferred to jail headquarters in Panaji.
The responsibility of the jail was then entrusted to Superintendent of Prisons Gaurish Kuttikar.
