MAPUSA: A Continuing Medical Education (CME) Programme on the analysis of COVID 19 autopsies was organised in the Goa Medical College Bambolim in the Pathology Department seminar room.
The CME was chaired by Dr RG Wiseman Pinto Professor and Head Department of Pathology Goa Medical College and President Asian Society of Cytopathology.
The speakers were Dr Edwin Gomes Professor and Head of Department of Geriatric Medicine Goa Medical College, Dr Savio Rodrigues Ex Professor and Head Department of Microbiology Goa Medical College and Dr Cheryl Gonsalves Junior Resident Department of Pathology.
The topics covered were analysis of autopsies conducted and published in Northern Italy, Mount Sinai Hospital New York and China.
In India COVID 19 Autopsies were conducted in two centers “ BJ Medical College Ahmedabad Gujarat and AIIMS All India Institute of Medical Sciences Bhopal.
In Goa two medico legal autopsies were conducted on post COVD-19 deaths.
The pathogenesis, pandemic burden, gross microscopy, clinical laboratory tests, immunohistochemistry and viral study of S protein (Spike protein), N protein (Nucleocapsid protein) was discussed.
