Mapusa : Purushottom Walawalkar Higher Secondary School, Khorlim, celebrated the 79th Independence Day with enthusiasm on August 15. Chief Guest Adv. Mital Pai hoisted the national flag, after which a cultural programme was held in A.G. Keni Hall.
Students presented patriotic dances, songs and a drama on tribal leader Birsa Munda. Ms. Rucha Parab delivered a speech on the sacrifices of freedom fighters, while Principal Mrs. Supriya Netravalker spoke on building a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
Prizes for essay and poster competitions were distributed. The Chief Guest urged students to contribute responsibly to nation-building. A memento was also presented to the Principal, who retires this August, in recognition of her guidance. The celebration concluded with the national song.
