Journo Otavanekar no more, GUJ pays tribute

Goan journalist Laxman Daji Otavanekar (53) from Harmal died of a heart attack on Tuesday morning and was cremated on the same day. Otavanekar is survived by his wife, daughter and son. 

The Goa Union of Journalists (GUJ) paid tribute to the departed soul. Otavanekar began journalism from Konkani daily ‘Sunaparant’ and later worked in various other local newspapers. He was a theatre artist and had performed on the amateur stage in Pernem taluka. He was associated with Harmal Navaratrotsava Mandal, Sarvajanik Ganeshotsava Mandal, Durvankur Kala Kendra, Marathi Sanskar Kendra, Shree Narayandev Haushi Natyamandal and many other local organizations. As a journalist, he tried to voice the issues and give justice to many. He was lauded for his social associations and felicitated by many local bodies for his good work.
