The Lions Club of Panjim, on its 59th Club Anniversary, held a felicitation programme for two teachers, acknowledging and appreciating their contribution to the society, and hosted the visit of the Lions Region Chairperson Lion Sushant Pokle to the Club at International Centre, Dona Paula on September 26, 2021.
The function began with the rendition of the invocation song by the Club Treasurer, Lion Sushma Sawant. The President of the Club Lion, Patsy Alvares welcomed the audience, and the Secretary MJF Lion Aurea Noronha read out the various activities carried out by the Club.
Two teachers -- Professor Anthony Rodrigues, Director Research Centre Pilar and Teacher Sushma Dhume of Shree Mahalaxmi English Primary School Panjim -- were felicitated and honoured by the Region Chairperson Lion Sushant Pokle and the Club President Lion Patsy Alvares.
In his response and Teachers' Day Oration, Professor Anthony Rodrigues, who was the Guest Speaker for the day, underlined the importance of the role of the teacher in the life of the students. He also touched briefly on a few highlights of the New Education Policy 2021.
Lion Hitesh Shah proposed the vote of thanks. Lion Berna S Prabhu was the Master of Ceremonies.
The function ended with the singing of the National Anthem.
