An event on International Women's Day called Aboli was organised at Margao Railway Station, by the International Associations Of Lions Clubs, Region IX, Zone I District 317B with felicitation of seven women Covid warriors. The International Women’s Day 2021 Aboli was organized by the International Association of Lions Clubs, Region IX, Zone I along with Government College of Commerce, Borda and VVM’s Damodar College and Konkan Railway Corporation Limited on March 8 with 8 events underway simultaneously. The Women’s Day Aboli was themed 'Choose to Challenge and Be The Bold Change' as Aboli is a flower which depicts women. The event started off with a talk on nutrition by Dr Hameeda Merchant, a nutritionist from Margao who gave tips on general nutrition for women’s health. Covid warriors Seema Dilip Ghodge, Market Inspector, Margao Municipal Council, Serafina Da Costa, Senior Nurse, ESI, Maria Cardozo, MTS at ESI, Sonali Pawar, RPF Constable, Vasanti Abadar, Senior Station Master KRCL at Karmali Station, Sangeeta Shirgaonkar, Station Master Verna, KRCL, Shrilatha Pangada, Primary Health Nurse, Verna, KRCL were felicitated. Dr Nidhi Sinha conducted physiotherapy camp for 20 female patients who had injuries, illness or disability of movement or of any joint. The general check up was done for women’s staff of KRCL by Dr Sonal Sawant. Sanitary Napkins by Bella were distributed at the station. Nukkad skit by the students of Government College of Commerce and Economics under the guidance of NSS Coordinator Vinta Kandolkar on 'Beti Bachao Beti Padao', on Dowry, Women Empowerment Etc was enacted at the Margao station.
