PANAJI: On the occasion of World Mental Health and Well-being Week, Lions International District 317 B, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal No. 3, organised a series of programmes across Goa and North Karnataka from October 4 to 12. Led by District Governor Lion JaiAmol Naik under the theme “Breaking the Silence, Building Support,” the initiative focused on four groups ” students, women, senior citizens, and workplaces.
The week began with an inaugural event at MES College in collaboration with the Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour (IPHB). Highlights included skits by MES College students performed at public places such as KRCL stations in Margao and Karmali, Old Goa Church Square, and Vasco’s MMC Square to raise awareness about mental health. Eminent psychiatrists and psychologists held talks at workplaces such as Mormugao Port Authority and Hyatt, stressing the importance of early intervention and emotional well-being.
Other activities included yoga sessions, a Mental Health Run in Margao, visits to old-age homes, candlelight rallies, health camps, and hearing aid outreach programmes ” all aimed at spreading happiness, awareness, and compassion.
