MLA Vijai Sardesai has raised concerns about the imposition of a toll at Mopa Airport, questioning why such a fee exists when other airports do not have tolls. Sardesai criticized the construction of a flyover leading to the airport, suggesting it was unnecessary, as he would have travelled without it. He recalled that in 2014, he highlighted the lack of access to Mopa Airport, which led to changes in the land acquisition act and the construction of a national highway. Sardesai questioned the effectiveness of the current "double engine government," using a local phrase, "Double engine ghat jala, taka tel ghala," which translates to "The double engine has failed, pour oil on it," to call for the removal of the toll at Mopa Airport.
