The Sarpanch Swapnil Chodankar and Dy Sarpanch Manisha Naik of Penha de Franca Panchayat have submitted their letters of resignations to the Director of Panchayat on March 28. Both of them have mentioned the reason for resignation as personal. The panchayat elections are due in May end 2022. Hence this sudden move of resignation on the part of Sarpanch and Dy Sarpanch has surprised other panch members. As both the Sarpanch and Dy Sarpanch have resigned at the same time, the administration work of the panchayat will be effected.The Director of panchayat will therefore will have to wait for 10 days for fixing a new dates for the election of new Sarpanch and Dy Sarpanch. A panch member of Penha de Franca panchayat on condition of anonymity mentioned that he has learnt that Dy Sarpanch Manisha Naik wants to become the Sarpanch. Hence Sarpanch Swapnil Chodankar has resigned to make the way clear for Naik to become sarpanch.
