MARGAO: Perpetual Convent High School, Navelim entered the finals in both the boys and girls categories of the All Goa Inter-School U-14 football tournament, organised by United Sports Club of Seraulim, in memory of Sir Jawaharlal Da Costa, at Seraulim panchayat ground, Seraulim.
In the boys match, Perpetual Succour Navelim made easy work of St Jude High School, Betalbatim 3-0. Perpetual scored their first goal through Cain Fernandes when he ran down the right flank and smartly placed the ball into the far corner of the net in the seventh minute of play. It was again Cain Fernandes who scored his second goal after a shot from Musab Shaikh deflected the defender and landed at the feet of Cain Fernandes who had only to tap the ball and move the score to 2-0 in favour of Perpetual Succour. Perpetual Succour scored their third goal through Royden Carvalho who dribbled past two defenders and scored from outside the box to make it 3-0 just before the first half.
In the second half, St Jude fought well however were unable to score as the Perpetual Succour defence stood like a rock till the final whistle.
In the second match, Perpetual Succour Navelim scored a fluent 3-0 victory against St. Jude, Betalbatim. Vania Godinho, Clea Colaco and Venicia Carvalho scored for Perpetual Succour, Navelim.
