PANAJI: The Rosary High School at Cujira-Bambolim celebrated Grandparents Day by taking students of Std 7 to visit the elderly at the Missionaries of Charity Mother Teresa’s home in Panaji.
The students and teachers were accorded a warm welcome by one of the sisters of the Missionaries of Charity. The students then entertained the elderly with music and song, while also interacting with them. The students also donated generously for the welfare of the house.
The sister superior expressed her appreciation towards the institution for the initiative taken to visit the elderly.
Recalling their experiences, the students said their heart were full of compassion towards the elderly and an admiration towards their caregivers.
“My visit to the old age home was an enriching experience. It made me appreciate the elderly and their contributions to society, and also made me aware of the challenges they face. I left the home with a sense of gratitude and respect for the residents and the staff who take care of them,” Abigail Fernandes.
Added Bhoomi Dalal: While we were coming back, we had tears in our eyes. We saw the efforts that the sisters took to keep the elderly clean and happy. I will never forget this experience. It not only made me appreciate old age, but see the challenges they face.”
Anwaya Korothan, another student, said: "The visit was a great experience for me as I came back with memories and valuable lessons. We need to take care of our parents and grandparents throughout their life."
